2010 CCEA Scholarships

CCEA is sponsoring its annual scholarship program for the 2009-2010 school year. Twenty-two (22) $1,800 scholarships will be awarded to successful applicants in the following areas: education (including university students accepted into student teaching/educational internship programs), non-education majors, vocational/technical/trade majors, and culturally diverse/minority students.
The student must meet the following criteria in order to be nominated:
- Nominated by any CCEA member (form enclosed) prior to application for scholarship.
- Related to a CCEA member. This relationship is defined in Article 1-11 of the CCSD/CCEA Negotiated Agreement. CCEA membership must be effective for the prior two (2) years or the member must have joined when they first became eligible for membership.
- A 2010 graduating Clark County public school student. (Not applicable to student teaching/educational internship applicants.)
- Nomination form due on February 26, 2010
- Applications will be mailed on March 5, 2010
Scholarships will be awarded based upon:
- A minimum grade point average of 2.5, un-weighted.
- Challenging curriculum.
- Extracurricular activities, work experience, and/or community service.
- A typewritten essay of no more than one (1) page, 12 pt., double-spaced.
- Two (2) - one (1) page letters of recommendation.
- Seventh semester high school transcript bearing the official seal of the school including official SAT/ACT scores or student teaching/educational internship university transcript bearing official university seal.
- SAT and/or ACT scores are not required for Vocational Scholarships or student teaching/internship applicants.
- Agreement that scholarship funds must be used by October 31, 2012.
The nomination forms only must be stamped received by the CCEA office by 5:00 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2010. NO EXCEPTIONS.
