CCEA Applauds Bi-partisan Effort for Accomplishment
Monday, June 5, 2017
Las Vegas, NV - CCEA applauds the bi-partisan effort on the part of Governor Sandoval, Senate Majority Leader Ford, Assembly Speaker Frierson, and Senate Minority Leader Roberson and Assembly Minority Leader Anderson to move Nevada forward and have the Legislative Session end with accomplishment.
Moving Nevada’s education system forward requires all parties working together. This session opened with very challenging issues regarding public education: School choice being at the center. The agreement reached to expand the Opportunity Scholarships is a good compromise. Advancing and making progress on the Weighted Funding Formula by addressing equity issues for those students at the bottom proficiency level is a significant step forward for Nevada’s public education system.
As the Session comes to an end, CCEA will continue to advocate for good public education policies that have bi-partisan support.
