On June 21, 2017, CCEA and CCSD convened the arbitration hearing for the 2017-2018 collective bargaining agreement.
It was clear that CCSD did not engage in meaningful bargaining. This was confirmed when the Arbitrator learned that
CCEA filed an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) complaint against CCSD for bad faith bargaining. The Arbitrator ordered the
parties back to the negotiation table.
Negotiations will now take place with the assistance of a mediator. The arbitration hearing has recessed until
August 21-23, 2017 if there is no agreement reached between the parties. CCEA’s outlook is to reach an agreement
through negotiations but will be prepared to go to arbitration in August if need be.
Accordingly, CCEA’s Negotiation Team will proceed with negotiations with CCSD. We will continue to keep you posted
as things move forward. Thank you for your patience, support and understanding. We are confident in proving that
educators deserve to be treated as professionals in their compensation, health benefits, and conditions of employment.
We will keep you updated.
